Kristopher Takács Lectures on Transformative Transportation Projects
On Monday, March 28th, SOM Associate Director Kristopher Takács will speak at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as part of the school's Robert B. Church Lecture Series. His lecture, titled "Leveraging Transportation Investment to Transform Urban Districts," will address how private and public investment in transportation infrastructure can improve the connectivity of urban districts.
The use of various, integrated transit modes can yield far-reaching advantages and produce landmark architecture and new open spaces. Takács will focus on the ways in which high-speed, intercity and regional rail, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian networks are being planned to promote this kind of urban development, as demonstrated by recent and ongoing SOM projects in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Colorado.
